Mattel breaks barriers with first Barbie doll featuring Down syndrome.

Mattel has unveiled its first Barbie doll representing a person with Down syndrome, as part of its 2023 Fashionistas line aimed at increasing diversity and inclusivity. The design features of the new Barbie were made under guidance from the National Down Syndrome Society, and the doll's clothing and accessories carry special meaning, including the blue and yellow on the doll's dress, which represent symbols and colors associated with Down syndrome awareness. The Barbie also wears ankle foot orthotics, which some children with Down syndrome use.
