Controversy Surrounding Budweiser and Trans Partnership Sparks Boycotts and Backlash

A Kentucky restaurant, Smokin' This and That BBQ, faced backlash after announcing it would no longer carry Budweiser and Bud Light due to "inappropriate labels." The owner, Guy Cummins, said the decision had nothing to do with the online movement to boycott the beer brands over their support for the LGBTQ community. Instead, he wanted to avoid conflicts between patrons who were harassing others for drinking Bud Light after the company ran prior LGBTQ promotions. Cummins said people of all races, genders, and identities are accepted in his restaurant, and he still carries Budweiser and Bud Light at his bar.
