Jamaican man sentenced to 3 years for knowingly infecting woman with HIV.

Jermaine Scott, a Jamaican man, has been sentenced to three years in prison for "recklessly" infecting a British woman with HIV 14 years ago. Scott was diagnosed with HIV in 2005 and had been prescribed medication that could have eliminated the risk of transmission to others. He failed to inform the victim of his diagnosis and had unprotected sex with her. After the victim tested positive for HIV, Scott left the area and was deported from the UK in 2011. The case was reopened in 2019, and Scott was extradited back to the UK in 2022 to be charged.
