Teachers caught selling in schools by JYAN

The Jamaica Youth Advocacy Network (JYAN) has criticised teachers who sell sugary drinks and snacks to students on school compounds, calling for the implementation of the National School Nutrition Policy. The JYAN, in collaboration with the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) Jamaica, has organised a variety of activities and events to promote healthy eating to youth, including 'Health Chats' in schools across the country. Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are a major public health issue in Jamaica, with one in three Jamaicans having hypertension and one in eight having diabetes.
