A new study from researchers at Uppsala University in Sweden has identified about 90 molecules that may serve as biomarkers of an imminent heart attack, with brain natriuretic peptide being one of the strongest indicators. The study aims to provide an "early warning" system that may allow time for preventive measures before a first heart attack, and researchers are also working on an online tool that can predict the likelihood of having a first heart attack within the next six months. While the test is currently designed for the research community, it could potentially be made more available to the public in the future.
