The study revealed that women with higher exposure to PFAS were twice as likely to report a previous melanoma diagnosis and also showed a link between PFAS and past diagnoses of uterine and ovarian cancer. The study emphasized the need for more investigation into the associations and increased oversight of contaminated water to prevent the impact of these chemicals on hormone levels and the endocrine system. PFAS, which are found in various household products, have been linked to birth defects and an increased risk of cancers.
