NYC to Launch $100M Public-Health Call Center

New York City plans to launch a $100 million "Public Health Call Center" in 2025, which will provide medical professionals and the public with access to doctors and nurses who can answer questions about a range of medical issues, including during emergencies such as the COVID-19 outbreak. The call center will be staffed by clinicians and phone operators and will make outbound calls to residents. The hotline will also play a role in connecting migrants to medical care. The call center will be required to handle an estimated 40,000 inbound calls monthly from the public and 8,000 inbound calls from medical providers and school officials.
