Unveiling Autism in Children's Eyes: AI's Hidden Pattern Diagnosis

Deep learning AI models have shown promise in screening for autism and assessing the severity of the condition by analyzing retinal patterns. A study conducted by researchers from Yonsei University College of Medicine trained an AI model to identify autism based on retinal photographs and achieved a perfect score in distinguishing between individuals with and without autism. While the AI was less accurate in predicting symptom severity, there is potential for early assessment and shorter wait times for children with autism. Further research is needed to explore the use of retinal patterns in diagnosing autism in younger children.
