"Study reveals young adults face double the risk of anxiety and depression compared to teens"

A new report by the Making Caring Common project reveals that young adults aged 18 to 25 are nearly twice as likely as teenagers to suffer from anxiety and depression. The survey of over 700 young adults found that financial worries and pressure to achieve negatively impacted their mental health, with more than half reporting such influences. Additionally, 58% of respondents felt a lack of meaning or purpose in their lives, while 34% reported feelings of loneliness and 44% felt a sense of not mattering to others. The study suggests that factors such as job prospects and the impact of social media contribute to the high rates of mental health struggles among young adults. However, the report also highlights that this generation is more willing to speak out about mental health, potentially breaking the stigma surrounding it.
