Dr. Thomas O’Brien, a pioneering figure in the field of antimicrobial resistance, has passed away at 95. As the first director of the infectious diseases division at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and cofounder of the WHO's Collaborating Centre for Surveillance of Antimicrobial Resistance, Dr. O’Brien was instrumental in highlighting the dangers of antimicrobial resistance. Known for his modesty and dedication, he worked for over 60 years at Brigham and Women’s and Harvard Medical School.
