Norovirus Outbreak Strikes Caribbean Princess, 115 Sick Aboard Florida-Bound Cruise

CDC reports 115 people sick from norovirus aboard the Caribbean Princess, a Florida-bound cruise. As of Thursday, 102 passengers and 13 crew are affected with vomiting, diarrhea, headache and fever. The 3,116‑passenger ship left Port Everglades on April 28 and is due in Port Canaveral on May 11. Norovirus spreads quickly through contaminated food, water and surfaces; the ship has increased cleaning and is isolating the ill. U.S. officials are also monitoring Americans who were on a Dutch cruise ship linked to a hantavirus outbreak.
