Hantavirus-hit cruise arrives in Rotterdam for disinfection and quarantine

The hantavirus outbreak aboard the MV Hondius led to the ship docking in Rotterdam for disinfection and crew quarantine after passengers had disembarked elsewhere. The outbreak has at least 11 cases and three deaths, with Canadian and other passengers/crew in isolation or repatriated. Dutch authorities, working with Erasmus Medical Center, will decontaminate the vessel before it can sail again, while monitoring for additional cases due to the incubation period. The WHO notes the outbreak is rare and not a repeat of COVID.
