Disney Shifts Legal Strategy, Prioritizing Free Speech Claims Over Lawsuit Against DeSantis

Disney has dropped all claims in its lawsuit against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and his oversight board, except for the allegation that DeSantis retaliated against the company for exercising its right to free speech. The lawsuit claims that DeSantis and his allies used their political power to punish Disney, jeopardizing its business operations and violating its constitutional rights. The conflict between Disney and DeSantis began when Disney spoke out against a bill banning certain instruction about sexual orientation and gender identity in Florida classrooms. While some claims have been dropped from the federal lawsuit, they will still be heard in a separate state court lawsuit filed by DeSantis' oversight board.
