Florida gives board power to cancel Disney deals

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill into law that allows a new board he controls to cancel development agreements signed by Disney. The Central Tourism Oversight District Board, whose members are appointed by DeSantis, can cancel any deals signed up to three months before the board's creation. The move comes after a feud between the conservative governor and the entertainment giant, with DeSantis repeatedly attacking "woke Disney" in public remarks. Disney has filed a lawsuit in federal court, accusing DeSantis of illegally using government power to punish the company for exercising its free speech rights.
