Ohio Train Derailment Payouts Pose Challenges for Residents

Residents of East Palestine, Ohio, who were evacuated after a train derailment last month have found the process of claiming reimbursement from rail company Norfolk Southern confusing and burdensome. While all 11 residents interviewed for this article have received sums from the company, they have expenses that the company declined to pay. Norfolk Southern has offered residents a growing list of reimbursement options for the costs of their evacuations and other inconveniences, but residents have found the system opaque and onerous.
