Muslim New Jersey Mayor Files Lawsuit Against White House 'Watchlist' Denial

Prospect Park Mayor Mohamed Khairullah, a Muslim Democratic mayor from New Jersey, plans to sue the Biden administration to end a federal terrorism watchlist that he believes unfairly targets Muslims. Khairullah, who was disinvited from a White House event earlier this year, alleges that his name is on the watchlist without due process to clear his name. The lawsuit, announced by the Council on American-Islamic Relations, is expected to include a dozen plaintiffs and challenges the constitutionality of the watchlist. A federal judge previously ruled in 2019 that the list violated the rights of Americans on it, but a federal appeals court upheld it in 2021.
