"Former Mississippi Officers Sentenced for Torture of Black Men"

Six former Mississippi law enforcement officers, known as the "Goon Squad," were sentenced to 15 to 45 years in prison for the torture and abuse of two Black men in a racist attack. The officers poured liquids over the victims' faces, used racial slurs, forced them to strip naked and shower together, and subjected them to physical and sexual assault. The attack was prompted by a complaint from a white neighbor, and the officers attempted to cover it up by planting drugs and tampering with evidence. The victims suffered physical and psychological trauma, and some of the officers were linked to other violent, racist attacks.
