Arrests Made in Drive-by Killing of 11-Year-Old Boy, Prompting Controversial Gun Ban

Two men have been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the drive-by shooting that killed an 11-year-old boy in New Mexico. The incident, described as a "case of mistaken identity," prompted Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham to declare gun violence and drug abuse as a public health emergency and enact a controversial order suspending open and concealed gun carry laws in parts of the state. The suspects were identified through tips received by the police, and one of them was found in possession of a large quantity of fentanyl tablets. A federal judge has temporarily prevented enforcement of parts of the gun ban.
