California church shooting suspect indicted on 98 federal counts, including hate crimes.

David Wenwei Chou, the suspect in the 2022 California church shooting, has been indicted on 98 federal counts, including hate-crime charges and obstruction of free exercise of religious beliefs. Chou allegedly acted because of the victims' national origin and religion and intentionally obstructed their religious exercise. If convicted, he could face the death penalty or life in prison without parole. Chou was already being held in state custody awaiting trial on state criminal charges.
