These cases stem from a 2019 grand jury investigation into child sex abuse within Jehovah's Witness congregations. The defendants, all adult men in positions of trust, gained access to the victims through the organization. Four of the men have been arrested, while a fifth is being sought. The offenses occurred decades ago, but the trauma endured by the survivors persists. The grand jury has charged a total of 14 people so far, with one suspect dying by suicide during arrest attempts.
