
DeSantis ally arrested in child-sex-abuse case prompts suspension
Former Florida lawmaker and DeSantis ally Michael Caruso, 67, who was appointed Palm Beach County clerk of courts and comptroller, was arrested on multiple charges including lewd molestation and kidnapping for allegedly abusing a young boy on various occasions since Thanksgiving 2024; DeSantis suspended him from office, saying the allegations demand accountability, and Caruso—who is running for reelection and previously served in the Florida House—denies the accusations while the case unfolds.
