Fugitive Accused of Massachusetts Girlfriend's Murder Escapes Custody in Kenya

Kevin Adam Kinyanjui Kangethe, accused of killing his girlfriend in Massachusetts, escaped from police custody in Kenya while awaiting extradition, slipping out of a police station and fleeing in a minivan. Four officers are in custody, and his lawyer was arrested after the escape. Kangethe had been on the run for three months before being arrested in Kenya. The suspect's lawyer sought directions on surrendering Kangethe to the U.S. and opposed his continuing detention as disregarding his rights. The escape raised suspicions of corruption within the police force, as other suspected killers have also escaped custody in the past.
