Identification of Lake Mead drowning victim's remains brings closure after nearly 50 years.

Skeletal remains found in Lake Mead have been identified as a 1974 drowning victim, Donald P. Smith, through DNA identification. Smith's death has been ruled accidental. This is at least the sixth discovery of human remains at the reservoir in the past year as a drought across the West has driven Lake Mead’s water levels to record lows and caused its shoreline to rapidly recede. Coroner's investigators are still trying to identify other remains found last year while the lake recedes because of the drought.
