Matthew James, who posed as NFL general counsel Jeff Pash and others, has been sentenced to 12 years for using fraud and identity theft to obtain "hundreds of millions of dollars" from insurance providers through his medical billing companies. He pretended to be a patient or policyholder to secure reimbursements and even impersonated NBA player Marcus Smart. The scheme involved staggering amounts, with James ordered to pay over $336 million in restitution and forfeit over $63 million.
