Joran van der Sloot: Extradition, Arraignment, and Not Guilty Plea in Natalee Holloway Case

Interpol chief in Lima, Peru, Col. Carlos López Aeda, has dismissed claims that Dutch authorities tried to hamper attempts to bring Joran van der Sloot, a suspect in the Natalee Holloway case, to the US to face federal charges. López Aeda said the Dutch authorities collaborated with them, but van der Sloot refused to receive or sign the passport, forcing immigration authorities to issue him with official exit documents. Van der Sloot made his first appearance in a federal courthouse in Birmingham, Alabama, earlier Friday, pleading not guilty to extortion and wire fraud charges in an alleged plot to sell fake information about Natalee Holloway's remains to her mother, Beth Holloway.
