Jury Acquits Colorado Officer Woodyard in Elijah McClain's Death

Colorado police officer Nathan Woodyard, who put Elijah McClain in a neck hold before his death in police custody in 2019, has been found not guilty of homicide and manslaughter by a jury. McClain, a 23-year-old Black man, was stopped by police while walking home and was later injected with a large dose of ketamine by paramedics. Two out of three officers charged in connection with McClain's death have now been acquitted, while a third was convicted of lesser charges. Defense attorneys have shifted blame onto the paramedics, who are set to go to trial later this month. McClain's family settled a lawsuit with the city of Aurora for $15 million.
