Man charged with criminal vehicular homicide in Minneapolis crash that killed 5 women.

Derrick John Thompson, 27, has been charged with 10 counts, including criminal vehicular homicide charges, for causing a crash that killed five young women in Minneapolis last week. Thompson was allegedly driving at 95 mph when he exited the freeway and drove through a red light, broadsiding a passing Honda Civic. He faces federal charges for possession of a firearm as a felon, possession of fentanyl, and carrying a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime. Thompson has a previous conviction for a 2018 crash in California that critically injured a pedestrian. The victims were members of the Dar al Farooq Center in Bloomington.
