A 16-year-old boy from Michigan has been sentenced to three years probation after admitting to coercing a fellow online gamer, a young boy from Texas, to commit suicide during a game. The victim was found dead at his home, still wearing his gaming headset. The two juveniles met through an online gaming community, and the suspect was located through communication with members of the community. The teenager pled true to a felony charge of aiding suicide and was also charged with a misdemeanor for harassment causing death. As part of his probation, he must attend a suicide awareness program and is prohibited from using online gaming or any electronics with internet access.
