New Hampshire Man Charged with Threatening to Kill US Senator

A man from New Hampshire, Brian Landry, has been charged with threatening to assault, kidnap or murder a United States official after leaving a threatening voice mail message to a senator's district field office. Landry was angry about the blocking of military promotions and described himself as "a veteran sniper" in the message. He faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted. Threats against elected officials have become more prevalent in recent years, with some becoming more concrete, such as the case of a man who broke into the home of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in San Francisco and struck her husband with a hammer.
