New Orleans Archdiocese submits extensive records on accused ex-priest to District Attorney.

The New Orleans district attorney's office has received "voluminous documents" from the archdiocese involving a retired Roman Catholic priest accused of molesting children. The documents were provided as prosecutors investigate an allegation that the priest manhandled and raped a child decades earlier. The priest, Lawrence Hecker, has never been criminally charged and is now 91 years old. The lawsuit accuses Hecker of molesting numerous children, including the plaintiff, and accuses his supervisors of not immediately reporting him to law enforcement despite knowing he was an abuser. The investigation into Hecker is now being led by state officials rather than federal ones.
