"Newton Man Arrested for Fatal Assault on Wife, Investigation Underway"

A Newton man, Richard Hanson, has been charged with assault with intent to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury in connection with the death of his wife, Nancy Hanson. The incident occurred inside their home, and a juvenile who was present called 911 to report the ongoing assault. Nancy Hanson was found with blunt force injuries and later died at the hospital. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled her death a homicide due to blunt force trauma. A restraining order had been issued against Richard Hanson prior to the incident, and authorities anticipate bringing additional charges. Richard Hanson is currently held without bail pending his arraignment.
