NYC Council Member Vernikov Arrested for Gun Possession at Protest

New York City Council Member Inna Vernikov, a Republican, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a firearm after being photographed with a gun on her hip at a rally. Vernikov, who has a concealed carry license, was counterprotesting a pro-Palestinian rally outside Brooklyn College. She turned herself in to the police, surrendered her gun license, and is facing a Class E felony charge. New York City politicians carrying guns is rare due to the city's strict gun laws.
