Possible panhandling link investigated in deadly car crashes involving children.

Police are investigating whether the five Derby youth who died in a car crash in New York were panhandling at a New Jersey mall earlier that night. Video footage shows the children approaching shoppers and speaking with them, but it is unclear what they were doing. At least one of the children, Anthony “A.J.” Billips Jr., was investigated for panhandling in August in Milford. The car was being driven by a 16-year-old who didn’t have a permit or license, and the crash killed five children and injured one.
