Prank on Minnesota tree crew ends in death as hydraulic grapple crushes coworker

A Minnesota man, 34-year-old Christopher Crimmins, is charged with second-degree manslaughter after a truck-mounted hydraulic grapple crushed his 26-year-old coworker’s head during a “fooling around” moment on a tree-trimming job in Apple Valley. Crimmins allegedly moved the grapple to look like it was grabbing his coworker, but failed to notice it was closing on him, killing Tyler Lynch. Bail is set at $40,000 unconditional or $20,000 with conditions. Crimmins faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted, with a court hearing scheduled for Sept. 10.
