Probation Supervisor in LA County Charged with Assaulting Teen

A Los Angeles County probation supervisor, Oscar Cross, has been charged with assault after a video showing officers restraining a teenage boy with excessive force was made public. The incident occurred in October 2020 at the Camp Kilpatrick facility in Malibu. Cross allegedly used brutal force, bending the teenager's legs backward towards his head, even after he was handcuffed. The district attorney stated that this was a "brutal assault on a child" and emphasized a zero-tolerance policy for child abuse. Cross could face three years in county jail if convicted.
