"SC Deputies Fire Shots During Hostage Negotiation with Armed Man"

Deputies in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, fired shots at a man who had held a child hostage at a home in Boiling Springs. The suspect, armed with a rifle, alternated between pointing the gun at deputies, the hostage, and himself. Despite numerous verbal commands to drop his weapon, the suspect did not comply, leading deputies to fire in defense of the hostage and themselves.
