Texas Man Charged with Attempted Scam Involving George Santos and Celebrities

Hector Medina, a Texas man, has been charged with wire fraud for allegedly offering to make evidence against former congressman George Santos "disappear" for nearly $1 million. Medina, who turned himself in to law enforcement, faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted. He also attempted to defraud other individuals, including a "publicly known" actor, a musician, and a professional athlete, by offering similar services. Medina claimed he needed money to cover gambling debts and allegedly sent videos and text messages to Santos offering to get charges dropped in exchange for payment.
