US Government Imposes Sanctions on Sinaloa Cartel and Colombian Narco Leaders for Drug Trafficking

The U.S. Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has sanctioned an Ethereum wallet linked to Jimenez Castro, a Mexican individual associated with the Sinaloa cartel. The wallet received approximately $740,000 in deposits to Binance within a two-month period. Castro is accused of operating a money laundering organization that utilizes virtual currency and wire transfers to transfer proceeds from illicit fentanyl sales in the U.S. to Sinaloa Cartel leaders in Mexico. OFAC previously sanctioned a group of cryptocurrency wallets connected to the North Korean government.
