Woman charged with killing toddler by feeding her batteries and poison

Aleisia Owens, 20, has been charged with criminal homicide in the death of her boyfriend’s 18-month-old daughter, Iris Rita Alfera, after allegedly poisoning her with nail polish remover following failed attempts with batteries, water beads, and nails. Owens conducted meticulous research on harmful substances for children and is also charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault of a child, and other offenses. The investigation revealed that Iris had ingested dangerous items prior to her death, and Owens had researched household products that could kill young children if ingested.
