YouTuber Sentenced to Prison for Intentional Plane Crash Stunt

Trevor Daniel Jacob, a YouTuber pilot, has been sentenced to six months in federal prison for obstructing a federal investigation by deliberately destroying the wreckage of an airplane that he intentionally crashed in Santa Barbara County to gain online views. Jacob, an experienced pilot, skydiver, and former Olympic athlete, had mounted several video cameras on the airplane and equipped himself with a parachute, video camera, and selfie stick. After parachuting to the ground, he hiked to the crash site, recovered the video recording, and lied to investigators about the wreckage's location. Jacob uploaded a YouTube video promoting a wallet and depicting the crash, intending to make money. He pleaded guilty to destruction and concealment with the intent to obstruct a federal investigation.
