California School District Settles $2.25 Million for Teacher's Sexual Abuse and Student's Pregnancy

A California school district will pay $2.25 million to settle a lawsuit involving a teacher, Laura Whitehurst, who became pregnant by one of at least two students she was accused of sexually abusing. This brings the total amount paid by the Redlands Unified School District to Whitehurst's victims to $8.25 million. The latest lawsuit was filed by another former student who alleged he was preyed upon and sexually abused by Whitehurst in 2007 and 2008 when he was 14. Whitehurst admitted to having sex with the student multiple times.
