The Impact of Affirmative Action on College Compliance and Racial Disparities

U.S. Senator J.D. Vance has urged Ivy League universities and two Ohio colleges to preserve admissions records following the Supreme Court's ruling that deemed the use of race in admissions processes unconstitutional. Vance expressed concern over some university presidents expressing plans to defy the ruling and continue focusing on the race of students applying for admission. He cautioned against using other means, like essays, to incorporate race into admissions decisions, as it could prompt a federal investigation. Vance requested the university presidents to retain relevant records and answer questions about compliance with the ruling by July 21. Oberlin College stated they will comply with the law, while Kenyon College did not respond to a request for comment.
