Air Quality Concerns Persist in New York Due to Wildfires

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an air quality health advisory for the Upper and Lower Hudson Valley, including the Capital Region, due to smoke from wildfires in Quebec. The air quality sample taken in Albany on Wednesday morning was in the "very unhealthy" category. The state Department of Health recommends limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity, particularly for those with preexisting respiratory problems. Governor Kathy Hochul has recommended school districts cancel outdoor activities due to the fires. Many school districts and clubs have already canceled outdoor practices and games.
