Canada's Wildfires Continue to Rage, Forcing More Evacuations in Quebec

Northern Quebec's largest town, Chibougamau, is being evacuated as more than 150 forest fires, including over 110 out of control, continue to burn in the province. The intense Canadian wildfires are causing air pollution and haze as far away as New York City and New England. The Abitibi-Témiscamingue region in northwestern Quebec is an area of particular concern, with the communities of Normétal and Lebel-sur-Quévillon under threat. Over 8,300 people have been evacuated across the province, and authorities are not expecting rain in the short term, making it more difficult to fight the fires.
