TL;DR

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp signed a bill that will give Georgians a special state income tax refund of up to $500, which will be issued by the Department of Revenue in six to eight weeks. Taxpayers who filed tax returns in both 2021 and 2022 are eligible to receive the money, and most refunds will be issued by July 1, as long as taxes are filed on or before April 18. The money comes from more than $1 billion in surplus funds the state currently has.
