Appeals court faces pressure from both sides in Texas abortion pill ruling.

The Alliance Defending Freedom, an anti-abortion group, argued that the US appeals court lacks the authority to block the Texas ruling that suspended the FDA's approval of the abortion pill, mifepristone. The group's lead attorney argued that the court lacks jurisdiction because the US District Judge did not issue an injunction ordering the FDA to withdraw mifepristone. The Justice Department and Danco Laboratories, the company that distributes mifepristone, said in their motion to the 5th Circuit on Monday that they will ask the Supreme Court to intervene in the case if necessary.
