Missouri's attorney general is issuing an "emergency rule" limiting gender-affirming care for minors and adults, which is expected to go into effect this week. The rule claims that people often take "life-altering interventions" without any talk therapy and is based on scientific studies and reports. However, the World Professional Association for Transgender Health and the United States Professional Association for Transgender Health have said the rule is based on flawed reports. The rule is expected to go into effect on Thursday and will expire on February 6, 2024. LGBTQ advocates have called the measure "an unprecedented attempt to restrict an entire group of people."
