Nebraska Implements Controversial Restrictions on Gender-Affirming Care for Trans Youth

Nebraska has implemented strict restrictions on gender-affirming care, prohibiting individuals under 19 from undergoing gender-affirming surgeries and imposing a seven-day waiting period for puberty blocking medications or hormone treatments. Transgender youth seeking treatment will also be required to attend at least 40 hours of "gender-identity-focused" therapy sessions. These regulations, announced by the state's health department, are considered "emergency regulations" and will remain in effect until public feedback is considered and permanent rules are established.
