"Post-Covid: Implications of Ending Health Emergency in US States"

The end of the federal public health emergency for Covid-19 means that New York City will begin to treat the virus like any other transmissible disease, with the end of federal funds for free testing and treatment for all. However, some free Covid-related services will continue, at least in the short term, including free vaccines for nearly all New Yorkers, low-cost or free care for uninsured people, and distribution of free home tests. The city will also continue to maintain its Vaccine Finder website and long Covid care centers. However, coronavirus testing will be harder to access, and there may be reduced frequency of reporting to the public about Covid-19 data.
