Survivors Speak: Tales of Shark Attacks in Hawaii

An experienced surfer in Hawaii, Mike Morita, lost his right foot after a shark attack in the waters around Honolulu. Morita, who was a regular at the basin, was bitten by an 8-foot-long tiger shark. He was able to bear hug the shark and dig its gills and eyes to make it let go. Other surfers in the area came to his aid and tied tourniquets on his leg. Morita will undergo another surgery this week as he continues to recover, and his family is raising funds through GoFundMe to help pay for his medical expenses.
